Birmingham City Council is to award Sutton Coldfield £400k in the form of Community Chest funding.
This will be made available in lots of £100,000 for each of the four electoral wards in the forthcoming year.
The cash regularly proves invaluable in supporting local groups and local priorities, and has been instrumental in making some real and positive changes in the Constituency, ranging from helping extend and promote the Junior Rotary Award scheme, to the employment of detached youth workers.
Councillor Anne Underwood, Sutton Coldfield Constituency Chairman said: “Community Chest funding makes a real difference to the lives of local people.
“We have many voluntary and community groups in Sutton Coldfield who work hard to enrich the wellbeing of local people and this funding helps support this infrastructure. The money really does have a positive effect.”
All bids for projects that can assist local groups and tackle local priorities are welcome, and although the fund is regularly oversubscribed, groups are encouraged to put their ideas forward as alternative funding methods can also be investigated.
Anyone wanting to know more about the Community Chest fund or who would like an application form should contact Constituency Support Officers, Roy Roberts on 0121 464 1197 or Mary Kennedy on 0121 303 2355. |
